Jiří Šlégr Sports Personality of the ECH2014

Jiří Šlégr is a legendary Czech ice hockey player, together with Jaromír Jágr the only Czech member of the prestigious Triple Gold Club (He won a gold medal in all three the most important championships:  World Championship, Olympic Games and Stanley Cup)

However Jiří Šlégr is not only top ice hockey player. When he was a member of the Czech parliament, he promoted new ideas in sports and emphasized health enhancing physical activities, with special regard to school curriculum.

It is obvious to him that young people need new incentives to involve them in taking the good of their own health in hand. .

One of the possible methods how to make the physical education more attractive is inclusion of the new sports into standard school curriculum.

Kin-ball is a new sport in our country, so it is natural that there has not being enough time to develop great Kin-ball personalities.

It ihas been our great honour and privilege that Jiří Šlégr accepted this role as the philosophy of the new sport Kin-ball is quite close to his understanding of sports and its role in society.
